Eighth stop: United States of America. Be proud of your roots.

It’s show time. At the eighth stop of the ÖLFLEX® World Tour in New Jersey, Lapp customers and employees proved that Americans are born entertainers. With a unique event they celebrated the well-travelled cable drum and visited one of the most exciting ÖLFLEX® application areas on the market.

And it started with a bang: at the Lapp USA site in Florham Park, a huge tent was adorned with colourful decoration. 300 guests came from all over the USA, Mexico, Canada and even from South America. A Dixieland band welcomed the guests with swinging rhythms and it showered balloons and confetti on the three guests of honour, Andreas, Siegbert and Matthias Lapp, who brought the world-travelling ÖLFLEX® cable drum with them. “We have really been looking forward to this day”, said Marc Mackin, General Manager of Lapp USA and invited the guests to a tour around the huge Lapp location. And there were a lot of things to discover along the way because the Lapp site near Florham Park is not only a sales agency but it also produces and develops Lapp products. The tour through the production site, offices and the warehouse offered a great possibility to chat and to network – for the employees as well as for the invited guests.

Whilst the groups were still meandering around the Lapp site, the stage was converted into the perfect place for the next stars of the day – the popular Lapp Artists. In a whirl of colours and energy, the four artists rushed around and enchanted the members of the Lapp family as well as their guests from New Jersey and the rest of the Americas.

Change of location: In the evening a glamorous gala dinner awaited the guests in the perfect American mansion “Meadow Wood Manor”. As they arrived at the majestic house the guests were welcomed by a jazz band and had a delicious dinner. There Andreas and Siegbert Lapp spoke about the company’s values, the development from a small family business to a global player and their philosophy. But on this occasion talking was not the only thing the Lapp brothers had to do. In the homeland of shows the two men couldn’t avoid becoming a part of a performance artist’s exciting show. Accompanied by music which came through Lapp cables, the artist and the two Lapp-brothers drew a modern painting. Who will have the honour of hanging this picture up in the office?

On the second day the guests were taken on a bus tour to New York City. More precisely, one of the main sites visited was Time Square. Or to be even more exact the roof where the New Years Eve Ball is installed. Why? Well up there a piece of Lapp quality goes into action. The New Years Eve Ball is lit by Lapp cables. Especially for the international guests’ visit the light ball was brought down so that the visitors could take a souvenir photo with the famous symbol of the city making the event even more unforgettable than before!

The Location

When visiting the most important Lapp subsidiaries in the world, the Lapp Group North America facility in Florham Park, USA is an obvious choice. Lapp USA became home to the first foreign subsidiary of the Lapp Group in 1979. The company relocated to its recent location in Florham Park in 2001 and is now the headquarters of Lapp Holding North America, Lapp USA, Lapp Canada, Lapp Mexico, Lapp Tannehill, Phoenix Wire & Cable and also houses the manufacturing company Lapp Cable Works and a brand new laboratory.

Florham Park is one of Morris County’s most desirable places to live and a great place to work, and it is easy to see why: When entering the city, which is only 40 minutes away from New York City, you immediately get a feeling of coming home. Well-groomed, small family homes line the streets, picturesque old-fashioned churches invite you to linger and green parks offer plenty of space for recreation for young and old.
